Visited in March 2015, with the best group ever: Ben Project Mayhem, Andy Behind Closed Doors, Matt Kriegaffe9, Nikon the Alien, Peter The Baron of Scotland and last but not least Travis If Walls Could Talk. If you want to see some of their pictures (which I totally recommend), please feel free to click on their names.
This trip definitely goes in my top 5 of greatest explores so far. We were incredibly lucky with the weather conditions, blue skies for 2 days and fresh snow, the snow made the 45 minute walk up to the monument pretty brutal but it also made everything look more magical. I went up to the monument twice, while some of the others went up to 5 times, at night, sunrise, sundown… all to get the perfect pictures, that’s what I call dedication. My vertigo made it impossible for me to go all the way up the tower, but I am pretty proud I managed to stand on a ledge, I guess I’m slowly getting better. The second day the snow started to melt rather quickly, and so a lot of us had snow falling on our head while walking around inside, it didn’t hurt, the surprise effect was just very funny. The Baron even caught snow falling on Travis’ head on video, that was a good laugh, one of the many we had. I wish I had a recorder with me, because the sound of the snow falling down from the tower was an incredible noise, one I would have definitely used if I was still making music. I could get into detail about all the stuff we went through, but I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, I just wish we could do trips like this for a living, that would be my absolute dream!
