Abandoned Chateau [007]

Chateau Lumière - Entrance Hall
Chateau Lumière – Entrance Hall

Visited October 2014, with Céline from A Forgotten World , this was a surprise explore, which made it all even more intense.

The Chateau was given the nickname Lumière because of the huge skylight which brings natural light to all 3 floors. The manoir sits in a small village in France and has been uninhabited for over 25 years, it was built in early 1900 by a wealthy family doing business in tobacco. The building has been registered as a historic monument since 1993, it’s future is uncertain…
One can only imagine how this place must have looked like with all the furniture still in it, I was in total awe. Hope you enjoy the photos…

  1. A beauty of a location – you wonder how a place can get on a historic register and then be allowed to fall into a state of decay. Very envious of those large bathrooms – usually I’m pressed into a corner with my widest lens and i still cannot get everything in. Nice posts!

    1. Very true, I really hope it will be used again, but after I go back 😉 I have to admit I used a 12-24mm (from a friend) to get these shots, was quite different than my usual 35mm, felt good to not be pressed against a wall for once! Thank you!!
